President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Suleiman spoke about the reaction of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to the appearance of a special belt in a trilogy with Gennady Golovkin.
On September 17, competitors at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) will compete for the title of world champion in the second middleweight division, and the WBC president told about Alvarez’s acquaintance with the new special trophy – “Zapoteca belt”.
“He was excited when he saw the pictures because it’s extra motivation for him, I’m sure it will be a great fight and let the best boxer win,” Marca quoted Suleiman as saying. – I talked to Saul a couple of days ago and he was very excited and when I sent him some pictures he really liked them.
He’s very proud to represent Mexico and excited to win this belt because it’s a work of art.
Later, the WBC president added, that this special belt will be awarded to the winner of the epic #CaneloGGG third meet and that they are looking forward to this amazing matchup.
