Sex between unmarried people will be officially banned for players, staff, and fans at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
According to the Daily Star, such a ban is being introduced for the first time in the history of the World Cup. Violators of the rules could face seven years in prison.
“Qatar is a conservative country, and public displays of affection are frowned upon regardless of sexual orientation,” the media quoted the Qatari Supreme Committee for the 2022 World Cup as saying.
It is also noted that partying and drinking alcohol will be banned at the World Cup.
The organizer of World Cup 2022 was named in 2010 in Zurich, Switzerland. Despite the scandals and accusations of human rights abuses and corruption, FIFA denied all information about the possible transfer of the World Cup to another country.
As a reminder, the FIFA World Cup in Qatar will start this fall – it will be held from November 21 to December 18 in five cities. This is the first World Cup to be held in the Middle East, and also the first in the country with a Muslim majority.
