Neymar’s transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain has become the subject of investigation in France, as reported by Liberation.
According to the source, the prosecutor’s office suspects former PSG communications director Jean-Marcel Ribes of involvement in a corruption scheme. He is being accused of potentially influencing the Vice President of the French National Assembly, Yuga Renson, to reduce tax obligations in a deal related to Neymar’s transfer.
The Brazilian forward moved to PSG in 2017, with the transfer amounting to a record-breaking €222 million for world football. During his time at the Parisian club, Neymar played 173 matches, scored 118 goals, and provided 77 assists. Neymar became a five-time French champion and a three-time winner of the country’s Cup.
Since August 2023, Neymar has been playing for the Saudi club Al-Hilal.
