It was announced that Simona Halep withdrew from the Miami Open due to the leg injury. The rehabilitation might take up to three weeks or more. Last week, Halep was advanced to semifinals at Indian Wells, but felt pain in her leg during a training session.
She was working out before a matchup against Daria Saville, when it became clear that the injury is too severe to go on with practicing and further participation in the tournaments.
According to Halep, she had her thigh issues since the Indian Wells semifinal, and the MRI showed that there was a tear. It will prevent her from competing in Miami, Fed Cup, and Charleston. Still, Halep claims to ‘keep the confidence from the great start to the year’ and feels motivated to go further after the rehab period is over.
