Matteo Berrettini is going through the rehabilitation period after a surgery on his hand. According to Berrettini, it was a tough decision but it was crucial for his further career longevity.
The World No. 6 described it as a ‘minor operation’, that is still necessary to ensure that he will be able to play for as long time as possible until the end of his career.
Berrettini will miss Monte-Carlo, Madrid, and Rome events. Last year, he advanced to final at Wimbledon, and the Australian Open semi-finals. He also reached his Masters 1000 final for the first time, losing to Alexander Zverev in the Madrid Open. His furthest advance was the quarter-final stage of the Italian Open in 2020.
