Aston Villa got goals from Matty Cash (37) and Philippe Coutinho (69).
Liverpool, also title contenders, beat Wolverhampton 3-1. However, it was not enough – Jurgen Klopp’s team finished second, losing to the Citizens by one point.
Pedro Neto opened the scoring in the third minute, but only the Reds scored after that – Sadio Mane (24), Mohamed Salah (84), and Andrew Robertson (89).
