Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been named the best player in the English Premier League in August.
The 22-year-old forward scored nine goals and provided assists in five games for Man City in August. Haaland broke Michael Quinn and Sergio Aguero’s record of scoring eight goals in five games in the English league.
Haaland also became the sixth player in history to score a hat trick in two consecutive EPL games – against Crystal Palace (4-2) and Nottingham Forest (6-0) – and the first since 2017. Last time Tottenham forward Harry Kane scored three goals in two consecutive league games.
Haaland is the first player since February 2020 to win the EPL Player of the Month award in the first month after his switch. Back then, the award went to Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
In addition to Haaland, Pascal Gross (Brighton), Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal), Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham), Martin Odegaard (Arsenal), Nick Pope (Newcastle), Rodrigo (Leeds) and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) also claimed the award.
