GGG has learned his position in the pound-for-pound (P4P) boxing rankings from BoxRec

The portal BoxRec has presented an updated ranking of the best boxers, regardless of weight class (pound-for-pound).

Gennady Golovkin is ranked fifth in the rankings. Furthermore, there have been some changes in the top ten after the past month. Devin Haney, the undisputed lightweight world champion with a record of 30 wins and 15 knockouts, unexpectedly took the eighth spot thanks to his controversial victory over Ukrainian star Vasyl Lomachenko.

Also included in the top 10 are Regis Prograis, the WBC champion in the super lightweight division with a record of 28 wins and 24 knockouts, and Juan Francisco Estrada, the holder of the green belt in the second lightest weight class with a record of 44 wins and 28 knockouts.

It is worth noting that the last time the Kazakhstani boxer stepped into the ring was in September 2022 when he lost to Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in their trilogy fight in Las Vegas. Alvarez currently leads the rankings. Shortly after that, GGG vacated his world champion titles in the WBA and IBF middleweight divisions, and now he only holds the IBO belt.

The pound-for-pound boxing rankings according to BoxRec:

  • Saul Alvarez (Mexico)
  • Dmitry Bivol (Russia)
  • Terence Crawford (USA)
  • Naoya Inoue (Japan)
  • Gennady Golovkin (Kazakhstan)
  • Gervonta Davis (USA)
  • Shakur Stevenson (USA)
  • Devin Haney (USA)
  • Regis Prograis (USA)
  • Juan Francisco Estrada (Mexico)
