Douglas Santos, a former Barcelona player, was arrested in Brazil.
According to information from Globo Esporte, Santos was detained on charges of illegally discharging firearms. The footballer fired shots into the air at night in a parking lot in the city of Brasilia.
Afterward, Santos hid the gun in a wooded area, and the weapon has not yet been found. However, the player himself admitted to being the one who fired the shots.
The 32-year-old player is currently not associated with any team, with his last club being Istanbul’s Besiktas. Santos is now facing trial.
During his time with Barcelona, Santos achieved notable success, winning the Champions League, clinching the Spanish championship twice, and securing the Spanish Cup twice as well. The Brazilian player played in eight official matches over the course of two years with the club.
