The Everton vs. Leicester City game scheduled on January 11, 20:00, Goodison Park stadium was officially postponed. The Premier League Board accepted the application of Everton which they filed due to the lack of players. The new posivite cases of Covid-19, injuriesm and players sent to the the Africa Cup of Nations, the upcoming game became too major challenge for the team.
The other postponements are most likely to take place as well, but the Board evaluates every application separately and acts according to the current league’s rules, published after the new coronavirus strain Omicron. The Board will consider various factors, including the team’s current capabilities, the possible threat of the Covid-19 outbreak in the club, and the possibility of players to safely prepare for the match.
Currently, the league is determined to do its best to keep the current fixtures schedule if it is safe enough for players, personell, and fans. The novel safety measures include more frequent Covid-19 tests, strict control of the mask wearing, social distance control, and extented Covid-19 treatment period.
