It was announced that Dani Alves, the 38-year old defender finally left San-Paulo to finish his career in Barcelona. Despite the Barca’s announcement stated that his return to the club is ‘the greatest right-back in Barca history’, the current financial state did not allow Barcelona to offer a top-tier compensation for Alves.
The transfer deal was settled down quickly and Alves easily accepted the offer implying the lowest fixed salary in the team, which is a pretty exceptional case for an experienced defender of Alves’ age and level. Besides, the agreement is only valid until June so Barca and Alves will have further negotiations in summer. However, it was reported that Alves have an option to earn more, with salary bonuses offered for succesful performance and trophies.
The defender has already underwent a health screening, and officially joined the team on Wednesday to start training sessions under Xavi’s management with the team. His first game can not be scheduled until January so he will have to wait before the opening of the registration window.
