ESPN Bet, a sports betting company, captured 6% of the Maryland market in its first month of operation.
The company’s turnover in the state reached $33.3 million, which already exceeded the performance of any month shown by Barstool Sportsbook (on whose infrastructure the new brand was built) during a year of operation in the state.
However, such indicators were associated with high advertising costs. In total, $13 million out of $33.3 million placed by players turned out to be bonuses that were given upon registration.
By the end of the month, ESPN Bet with its 6% share became the fourth bookmaker in the state, behind DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM.
According to management plans, the new bookmaker should capture 20% of the US market within the next five years.
