British track and field athlete Benjamin Gregory was seriously injured in a car accident.
As the Daily Mail reports, the 31-year-old athlete was hit by a car while riding his bicycle. Gregory is now in a coma and has been diagnosed with skull and neck fractures and a brain hemorrhage.
Gregory competes in the decathlon. He has represented Wales three times at the Commonwealth Games and placed sixth twice there (in 2010 and 2014).
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Ben’s friends and family right now. We all continue to pray for his full recovery,” the Welsh Athletics Federation said.
A similar cycling accident already happened to Gregory in 2020, but he escaped serious injury by wearing a protective helmet.
