American rapper Snoop Dogg has announced plans to purchase the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators franchise.
On his Instagram account, the musician announced that he is joining a bid led by Los Angeles-based producer Neko Sparks.
In late April, Front Office Sports reported that the final purchase price of the Ottawa could exceed $1 billion. At the moment, actor Ryan Reynolds’ group is the main contender to buy the franchise.
The longtime owner of Ottawa was businessman Eugene Melnyk. After Melnyk’s death in March 2022, ownership of the club passed to his family. Last November, the franchise was put up for sale.
In December 2022 Forbes estimated the cost of “Ottawa” at $ 800 million. At the same time a year earlier the price of “Senators” was $ 525 million.
