The championship belt won by American boxer Muhammad Ali in 1974 was sold at auction for $6.18 million.
According to Heritage Auctions, the winning bidder was Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts National Football League (NFL) club. The auction also sold other items of the famous boxer, including the robe Ali wore to the “Fight of the Century” against Joe Frazier
In 1974, the legendary Ali knocked out Foreman in the eighth round and regained his world heavyweight title.
Muhammad Ali is one of the most famous professional boxers in history, 1960 Olympic champion, outright world heavyweight champion (1964-1966, 1974-1978), five-time winner of the title of “Boxer of the Year” and the title of “Boxer of the Decade”. During his career, the American boxer had 61 fights and 56 victories (37 of them by knockout). Mohamed Ali died in 2016 at the age of 74.
