Sergiy Stakhovsky, the Ukrainian tennis player (former world No. 31) signed up to fight against the Russian invasion. According to Stakhovsky, he hopes he won’t have to use the gun but will do it if there is no other way. After retiring from tennis last year, he came back to the motherland to help the nation’s defense, leaving his wife and children after making a ‘horrible decision’.
Vasiliy Lomachenko, a boxing sports star of Ukraine also joined the forces yesterday. Oleksandr Usyk, the heavyweight champion also left his base in London to sign up to fight Russia.
