The Houston Rockets announced the suspension of the guard Kevin Porter Jr. and forward Christian Wood for Monday’s game against Philadelphia for unsuitable conduct, considered as an unfavorable for the whole team.
Despite being a top scorer of the Rockets, Wood is claimed to initiate a ‘spirited debate’; he and Porter are said to have meltdowns which led to the poor performance of the whole team and resulted in a loss in a Saturday game.
Stephen Silas, the Rockets’ coach, announced that the suspension is the best decision made for the sake of the team and is aimed at maintaining the culture and the team spirit. According to Silas, he was ‘just making sure that everybody is on the same page’.
Both players were suspended at halftime, with Wood has played only eight minutes before the call out. Although Porter has a doubtful reputation and his past is related to arrests for drugs and gun possession and a car accident, Silas still speaks well about him: ‘He owns up to his mistakes when he makes them and tries not to make mistakes again’.
According to Silas, he hopes that the suspension will help ‘everybody to grow from what happened’.
