It got about that FIFA announced the reorganization in terms of the World Championship and suggested to hold it once in two years from 2026. The federation has already notified all members about the possible reform and is preparing a new schedule for all national teams.
According to FIFA, the project is aimed at easing-off soccer players: they will spend only thirty days at national teams instead of fifty and the qualifying round will last for maximum seven games. The total number of matches played by UEFA teams will be reduced to forty-three, and South African teams will hold thirty-four games instead of their common thirty-eight.
After FIFA’s public announcement, more than twelve soccer associations notified UEFA about their intentions to exit FIFA, remaining a part of the UEFA. However, it has not been reported yet which particular national organizations are considering protests against FIFA’s decision.
